Solution: This is a known bug. If the client scores over 250 points in a period, the graph will not show up on the screen. Good job, you just scored "off the charts".

Get the pilots to show up by pressing the left mouse button on the client computer while the game is loading. - while it says "loading" on the screen.
You can highlight the pilots by pressing the right mouse button, or the arrow keys.
Select pilot by pressing the left mouse button.
(this feature just adds a little entertainment, but has no actually effect on the game).
