This is a simple diagram of how to hook up the portable. The most common problem people have is that we all naturally want to plug the computers together between the ports in the back, when in fact the communication from the therapist computer comes from the side, and the procomp plugs into the back. Check out the picture.

If you have a flat pannel monitor, or a portable, and the scrolling EEG looks funny, here is a solution:

change to swept mode
- on the therapist menu press Q and enter to exit the menu
- type: edit custom.bat
- in the blank file that opens type: set swept=1
- Alt then F then X to exit, then enter to save
- to return to menu type: menu

Explanation:
on the portable LCD screens the scrolling EEG looks fuzzy because the pixels cannot erase fast enough and the EEG leaves a trail. Switching to swept mode makes the EEG stay still and a line moves to refresh the EEG, making it much easier to look at.

problem: computer only gets as far as the bootup screen, and then it restarts, and keeps doing this even after I've turned off the computer.

solution:
- as the computer begins to boot, press F8. Just keeping hitting F8, only about once a second until you see a menu come up that lists safe bootup options.
- Choose option 6 "safe mode command prompt"
- when you see the prompt c:\> then type in "Edit config.sys", like this
c:\>edit config.sys
- in the file that opens, take out the line "dos=single"
- press Alt key, then F key, then x key to exit, enter to save.
- at the prompt again, type "Edit autoexec.bat", like this
c:\>edit autoexec.bat
- Take out all the lines below the line: "the following lines have been created by windows"
Last line is the win.com /wx
take out all of those lines, there should be about 6. you can do this by going to the first line, hold down the shift key, then hit the down arrow until all the lines are highlighted down to the "win.com /wx". Once they are all highlighted, let go of the shift key, then press the delete key, all the selected lines should disappear. Whatever's left over can be removed with the del or backspace keys.
- once the lines have been removed press Alt key, then F key, then x key to exit, enter to save.
back at the c:\ prompt type in "cd c:\eeg\bin" like this:
c:\>cd c:\eeg\bin
- at the new prompt, type in "Del pending.cmd" like this:
c:\EEG\BIN\>del pending.cmd
- this may or may not delete something, if it says "bad command or file name, do not worry, just make sure you typed it in correctly, then move on to the next step.
- Then restart (you can use the power button, or the Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart the computer).
